Styling My Big Girl’s Bedroom with Laura Jones

I think we can all agree that bringing beautiful interiors to life at home can be a daunting challenge.
Something that you might really want to achieve but just don’t know where to start, need that little bit of extra help in finalising a look or perhaps you need a bit of inspiration to get a home project underway.

Whatever it may be for you, we have just teamed up with the lovely and super talented Laura Jones, a Dubai based Interior Stylist, who will be creating a series of home interior stylings for Harri & Eve. Laura will include items from across our interior product ranges and weave them in with top picks from other well-known global and local brands.

The series has kicked off with Laura’s recent styling of her big girl’s bedroom, ready for a fresh, more grown-up feel.

“Naturally, soothing pastel tones are perfect for bedrooms, and when I’m designing a room I like to have a key piece that I work around pulling colour and inspiration from, so when I spotted the new Lorena Canals rug on Harri & Eve I knew this would be my starting point. Not only is it washable, which is perfect for spaces of high traffic and children but it also brings texture and warmth to the room (whilst covering those ugly floor tiles!).”

-Laura Jones

If you’re getting ready to style your big kid’s bedroom, here are the styling tips that Laura has shared with us…

  1. Childrens bedrooms are more than just a place to sleep, so add a desk with a cork board where they can add a gallery of their artwork. Hang prints and display family photographs cherished possessions and collectables that conjure memories.
  2. Panelling a wall is such a creative (and cost-effective) way to add character to a space.
  3. I look for pieces that stand out in design and love mixing vintage imperfections and natural materials with scandi whites. IKEA have some great options.
  4. Cabinets with ample storage will also help keep the surfaces clutter free, we fill ours with Aykassa Crates,
Olli Ella Baskets and Suitcases for ample storage.
  5. Add a green touch that doesn’t require watering or some pretty dried flowers on a bedside table.
  6. Breathable linen bedding teamed with a cosy throw and a signature cushion makes for a calming bedroom.
  7. I have always loved lamps and the soft glow they provide making the room feel cosy and cocooned. We never use the big lights in our house!
