Wondering how you’re going to keep your kids busy on the plane this summer?
One of our team has just done an unplanned, pre-summer flight with her littles and has put a selection of our travel companions to the test.
Here are Lauren’s top tips and picks…

Every time I travel with my kids, their interests and needs change and I collect more and more travel hacks. Here’s what worked really well for us this time, travelling with a 3 and 6 year old…
- Each of my kids had one drop-down toiletry bag packed for them – these are great because they hang from the seat in front, dropping down so your kids can pick and choose from each compartment. They were packed with snacks, toys, games, colouring, stickers…more than enough for a long-haul flight. These also fold up easily and fit well into their Liewood backpack carry-ons.
- My kids each carried their own backpack carry-ons. They were packed well and lightly so that they could manage easily (with no complaints). This gives them great independence and autonomy…and made my life A LOT easier.
- They weren’t allowed to see what was inside their backpacks until we arrived at the airport and they knew that this would be everything they’d have to choose from until we got to our destination. Manage the expectations early, keep all the new plane pals a surprise and you’re onto a winner.
- We used a ‘one-in, one-out’ rule with the toiletry bags and it meant that we got off the plane with everything we got on with. The Harri & Eve travel toys and games are super high quality and will last well beyond a plane ride. While the price points are excellent, these are not your ‘leave behind, who cares’ kind of toys and games. They all stuck with us during our travel, the plane ride home and have been used at home ever since.
- The Harri & Eve sheet of stickers that comes in your order is the perfect in-flight activity. Lyla had hers all over the tray table and when it was time to land we easily peeled them back off and popped them onto the sticker sheet for re-use.

Don’t forget the Dinkums…
My three-year old goes almost nowhere without her Dozy Dinkum and the plane was no different. She strapped and unstrapped her doll a thousand times, put her to sleep on the plane pillow and kept holding her up to the window to see the clouds! So…on our summer flights, not only will her Dozy come again but we will be bringing her original Dinkum, Peanut, with all of her clothing and accessories.  |
